The spring of 1944 saw the founding of Luqiao Middle School, when it was called "Private Junior Middle School of Huangyan County". And it was transformed into a public school in 1956. In 1981, it was listed as a key school of Zhejiang Province . In 1996, the junior section of the school was separated, therefore, it became a senior middle school. In 1997, it was affirmed by the Educational Committee of Zhejiang Province as a first-class key school of Zhejiang Province. In 2001, it was relocated and expanded and it now has a fairly large scale.

The school exerts quality education, with moral education as its core and the training of creative thinking and practical competence as its key. It deepens its reform, quickens its steps of modern education, strengthens its management, and constantly raises the school-running efficiency, and strives to be a state-level key school. After decades of pain-staking efforts, fine school spirit and distinct features have been formed. "assiduous and realistic" being its motto, "rigorous, strict, practical and lively its teaching style," diligent study and strenuous training, much thinking and much questioning" its learning style.

The teaching staff forges ahead and goes all out in work, which assures the school's steady progress. The lively and various teaching mode, together with the competency-based instructing system makes the quality education completely implemented. In the past 50 years, brilliant achievements have has been made in the school. In the college entrance examinations of 1959, the average mathematical score of all the examinees in the school got the third place among all the schools in Zhejiang Province, and the total average score was the seventh in Zhejiang. As a result, it was called "Model School" of Zhejiang Province.In 1960,it was honoured as "National Advanced Educational Unit". In March,1990,the school was named as "Civilized Unit" by the committee of CPC of Zhejiang Province and the government of Zhejiang. After that, it was named "Advanced sanitary Unit of Zhejiang","Safe and civilized school of Zhejiang Province and "Modern Educational Experimental School of Zhejiang Province".

Nowadays, in the school, the number of the teaching staff is 244. Among them, there are six renowned headmasters and famous teachers respectively and the advanced and intermediate teachers account for 75% of all the teachers. All of them have been devoting themselves to the educational course of the school.
